Scott Galen Perry died in Renton at age 70. Scott was born in Yakima, Washington, to parents E.E. “Bud” and Alice. With younger sister Jackie and older brother Gene, the family moved to Sedro-Woolley, WA, where his father held a position as Sales Service Manager at Skagit Steel and Iron Works.
His adolescent passions included sports, and he excelled in Sedro-Woolley High School varsity football and acted as captain of the school golfing team. Later he was to play adult soccer and sponsor youth sports, such as Pinto League Baseball. He often hunted and fished with his father and friends, and enjoyed rebuilding stock cars into street racers. As an instrumentalist and singer, his music ensembles won state awards at music festivals.
After graduating from SWHS in 1958, Scott attended Skagit Valley Community College and was President of its first graduating class.
Scott married Geraldine Hertz in 1962. Their son is Scott Galen Perry II, now a Starbuck’s supervisor in the Seattle Area.
Scott earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Speech from Washington State University in 1962. As a speech therapist he served school children through a Colorado Easter Seal Program. He earned a Masters Degree in Speech at California State University in Sacramento. Specialized training in audiology allowed him to refocus his career in order to help the hearing impaired, eventually establishing his own very successful Ear-Wise Hearing Aid Center in Renton, WA.
His highly skilled and specialized services to clients for over 35 year defined his devotion to helping people regain the gift of hearing. As a businessman, he belonged to the Better Business Bureau, the Greater Renton Chamber of Commerce and the Washington Hearing Aid Society. He was a Fellow and Life Member of the American Academy of Audiology.
Five years ago, Scott married his beloved Nita, and the two have shared life together around their interests in San Juan Island power boating, fishing, crabbing and camping at Ocean Shores. Scott was warmly welcomed into Nita’s family.
Scott died suddenly in his office on July 12.
Survivors include his wife Nita, sister Jacqueline Curdy, brother Eugene Perry, Son Scott and grandsons Ethan, Evan Aidan, and Aaran.
A memorial service will be held at Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, 10021 NE 127th St, Kirkland, WA 98033, on Saturday, July 17 at 2 pm. Remembrances may be given the American Heart Association.
